Homemade Reed Diffuser
Everyone deserves a good night of sleep. When I am struggling to fall asleep, I like to diffuse calming oils like chamomile and lavender. We are including a tutorial on how to make your own diffuser from items you may already have! We like this option, because it gives off a subtle smell that is not overwhelming, like chemical reed diffusers
Supplies you will Need:
A glass bottle with a small opening (upcycle old spice jars, bottles, or bud vases)
¼ cup Sweet Almond Oil (other carrier oils may not be light enough to diffuse up the reeds)
20-30 drops Essential Oils of your Choosing
2 Tablespoons Rubbing Alcohol
5-8 Traditional Rattan Reeds for diffusing (available at craft stores)
Directions:
Prepare your glass container by washing and drying. To disinfect, spray rubbing alcohol into the jar and allow it to dry before using. In a glass measuring cup, combine all of the oils. Add the rubbing alcohol, and whisk vigorously until everything is distributed evenly. Pour into your glass container, and insert your reeds. Place on your beside table, and enjoy peaceful sleep! You may want to flip your reeds over, and lightly swirl your mixture once a week to refresh your diffuser. You can also add more essential oils, if your scent becomes muted. This is an open container – if your mixture becomes contaminated and is discolored or smells off, discard your liquid, completely clean your jar, and start over with a fresh mixture
